The Springs, MI
THE SPRINGS property was purchased in the late 1960’s to run summer Christian youth camps. It started as a small piece of property with a large vision. The camp was first named Gilman Springs. The camp grew and ministered to many people. In the late 1990’s the vision to build a retreat center became a reality. The Robinson Retreat Center was built and put into operation in 2001.
So what are we? Today we have 300 winterized beds at our facility. 160 of those beds are housed in the retreat center in two different sections. In one end of the facility, there are 20 hotel rooms with two full sized beds and their own bathrooms. Also available are bunk rooms and suites. These rooms house multiple people and also have their own private bathroom. The center of the facility houses the dining room and chapel, both with views of the Sugar River . The basement has a large carpeted conference room with additional outlets. This facility is a big hit with our quilting and scrap booking groups.
The camp side of the property gives a more rustic setting. The cedar lined bunk rooms sleep 12 per room with a walk on cement sidewalks to the bathhouse. The Chapel in the Woods is a warm wooden structure that seats over 150. The dining room has beautiful views of the Sugar River and the spring’s ponds where the name comes from.
The Springs is a youth camp. That is our focus. We exist to develop and deepen relationships with Jesus Christ. During our summer we run 7 different programs. All of our programs are age specific, counselor based programs with a focus on impacting lives for Jesus Christ. We do this by hiring college age students who love God and love to show our campers how to love God also.
